Worrying Cannot Lengthen Anybody’s Life

[27] “Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” — Matthew 6:27 NIV

Too many people go through life worried, always thinking about what to eat the next hour, what to wear, and minding themselves with many worldly matters. In many cases, the mental torture these thoughts have on people is so evident that they start ageing faster than their regular age.

Jesus said in Matthew 6:27 that worrying cannot lengthen anybody’s life, even by an hour. Think about that for a while. When was the last time the second hand of your clock waited for you to finish worrying? I guess you cannot even think that’s a possibility.

Time keeps moving no matter what happens. So a wise man said, “Do what the time does; keep moving.”

God is so concerned with fulfilling the dominion mandate of Jesus through you that He has removed “worry” from the package of eternal life you have in Christ. So anytime you worry, you’re not practising your spiritual nature in the Lord. And that can harm you. It’s like playing with smoke without knowing that behind every smoke is fire.

Don’t let the devil steal your peace by concerning yourself with earthly matters. Be kingdom-minded in all that you do – whether it’s eating, dressing, serving and attending church, school, and all other life activities. Channel everything unto God’s glory, and He’ll ensure that provision flows through your life for your purpose’s fulfilment.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Oh God, thank You for Your promise that You’ll add the things I need to live unto You when I concern myself with Your kingdom. Expel every trace of worry in my mind, and help me gaze on Your sweet presence in my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
