Work Purposefully To See Progression In Your Calling

[10] “Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; [11] for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” — II Peter 1:10 - 11 NKJV

One great desire in the hearts of many lives is to see progression in whatever they do. Whether it’s ministry, business, education or any other area of life, stagnation is just something people hate.

But upon observation, I realised that the progression many people desire isn’t met because of many constraints in their lives, especially financial-wise. Today, some students resort to student loans without the consent of their parents merely to meet the needs their families aren’t providing. But why? It’s because such students want to see progression in their education. They don’t want to feel stuck in school due to unpaid bills and fees.

You see, God didn’t create scarcity. It sprouted up as a repercussion of the fall of man in Eden — when the very Earth God created to contain every need of man now became a place of sin and death. It became so bad that even a blessed man like Abraham needed money to purchase slaves to manage his wealth and household (Genesis 17:13). Now, it’s everywhere, and you can attest to the fact that without money, you’ll be handicapped in so many things you desire to accomplish.

But is it all about money? No! There’s something beyond money that will help you see progression in what you do. It’s called purposeful work.

In 2 Peter 1:10, God inspired apostle Peter to pen down how to ensure there’s surety of our calling and election in Christ. That is, to give diligence.

It’s written that if you give diligence to make your calling and election of grace in Christ sure, you’ll never stumble. “Never” means “never.” And “stumble,” in the context of the verse, means “late.”

So it goes like this. If you work purposefully to see progression in your calling in the Lord, you’ll not be late to see the manifestation of whatever God has planned to do in your life through you. Isn’t that awesome? Yes. But it is not achieved by just hearing these things. You must apply the truth.

God is very progressive. There’s more He wants to accomplish daily on this earth. But according to Psalm 116:15, God has given the Earth to the children of men. So He needs people to advance His kingdom on Earth. However, if the very people He needs are unresponsive or lazy, they’ll delay His purposes for their lives.

Will you join the army of diligent workers for the Lord? Or you’ll be at the backside, contributing to the devil’s plan to delay God’s work? The choice is yours.

Check how you use your time and money. Be minded about God’s kingdom every now and then, and you’ll see progression in your area of calling.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer

In the name of Jesus, Father, help me to put Your grace in me to use. Create avenues in my life that’ll make me harness my potential to its full use. Amen!
