What It Means To Run With A Vision

[2] Then the Lord answered me and said: “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it. [3] For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.” — Habakkuk 2:2-3 NKJV

Today’s devotion may look more meaningful to those who are living a purpose-driven life than those who’re asking themselves: “Why am I here?”

Many of us have deep-seated heart desires we can’t tell just anybody. God placed those ideas there so we’ll have a sense of purpose for living (see Ecclesiastes 3:11).

Unfortunately, too many people have left these dreams in the archives of our books and minds for years without touching them. When such a thing happens, then what it takes to understand and run with a vision is missing.

In Habakkuk 2:2, God’s Word tells us to write the vision. In other words, we should capture every thought that God puts in our minds related to the fulfilment of our divine mandate in Christ.

“Write” means “write.” So in your case, you can write it boldly on paper, laminate the document and put it in a place you’ll see consistently, whether in your office or room. Or, you can set a daily reminder on your phone with texts containing the vision. So that as you check your phone each day, you’ll get reminded of why God brought you into the world.

The goal is to obey what the Lord said in the later part of the same verse: Habakkuk 2:2, which is, “… That he may run who reads it.” As you read the vision, you’ll get focused on your mandate.

We live in a world where many people struggle to find direction in life. And it’ll be tragic to live years without knowing God’s specific mandate for your life. God has given you the grace to run with every vision He gives you. But will you take advantage of it?

There’ll be facts and voices that’ll tell you, “That is not possible.” It might be a lack of funds, people of influence or buildings. But, hey, hold on firmly to God’s Word. Believe in the revelation God showed you. Keep praying and moving forward. Each day, do at least one thing that’ll advance the vision God has given you, and there’ll be progression, no matter how slow it is. Practising these things is what it means to run with a vision.

Be empowered to push forward.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for the gift of vision. I receive the empowerment to run with it, both in consciousness and work that’ll advance its course in my life, as well as others connected to it. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen!
