By“I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” — Ephesians 4:1 - 3 NKJV
When you get saved and later discover your specific calling in Christ, you’ll realise soon that you cannot live like other people – undisciplined and disorganised. No! You’ll understand that there’s a way to live, such that Jesus becomes the centre of everything you do, regardless of how people treat them as earthly and unimportant.
For example, some people marry because of societal pressure. But as a minister of God, when God teaches you that marriage is helpful for vision expansion and multiplication of productivity in both spouses’ lives, you’ll not do marriage like how unbelievers do it because Jesus becomes the bedrock of your union.
Paul says in Ephesians 4:1 that we should walk worthy of the calling with which we were called. Where? In Christ. But what does that entail? Four things:
- The lowliness of mind.
- The gentleness of heart.
- Long-suffering and,
- Bearing one another in love.
Why all these? So that the unity of the Spirit, active through the bond of peace amongst us as brethren in the Lord, will be kept.
To “keep” divine unity in this manner means it requires work. It implies you’ve got to be intentional about doing everything in honour of your Maker and never to be the sower of discord seeds amongst the children of God.
If you love like Jesus, you’ll do everything in honour of Him. Pray unto God to help you with your vision about life so that your life will be gradually aligned with such a purpose.

Father, thank You for grace and peace dwelling amongst the brethren surrounding my life. Help me walk worthy of the calling I was called in good character that reflects Your glory. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
