Society says “fall in love,” but scripture says, “walk continually in love.” What’s the difference? When you fall in love, you’re actually falling into a realm of love you’ve never lived there. But when you walk in love, you’re actively living out the nature of God’s love daily. I know you may argue that the kind of love in dating relationships differs from that of Christ’s love. But in Christ, that doctrine is false because God is love (1 John 4:8), and for that matter, love isn’t a feeling to fall into.
God loves marriage because He uses it to make people more Christ-like.
Whether you’re dating, single or married, walking in continual love as a child of God must be deliberate. You should never wait to express the highest nature of God’s love when you start dating. No. Do it now. But sometimes, people find it hard to walk in this reality, so God hardly teaches them when they start dating. That’s why one of the reasons why God loves marriage is because He uses it to make people more Christ-like.
Learn how to forgive people voluntarily with a willing heart. Read the 16 virtues of love in 1 Corinthians 13:1-4, and be intentional about fulfilling each one of them. If you do this, many problems with people in your life will be solved, even without prayer. If God is the definer of life, and He’s love, then life is all about love. Love one another deeply.
