Wake Jesus Up in Your Case

“And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.” — Mark 4:37 - 39 NKJV

Five years have passed since our ministry started. And till today, I’m still in awe of what God has done through our small team of six ministers. Were there challenges we faced over the years? Yes. Did we overcome each of them? Yes, by God’s grace. But what did we do in each case? I always remember telling our prayer secretary to intercede for us.

Whenever God gives you a vision, it’s natural for challenges to come up against it, not necessarily you, the bearer of that vision. For example, if God tells you to build a church with multiple branches across the continents of this Earth, you’ll start thinking of training pastors, getting money to build chapels and holding events and other church-related activities. Once your current provision doesn’t amount to the vision, you can get worried. But if God didn’t call you to do that, all these thoughts would have been none of your business. Right? That is how this world is. Challenges are more on visionary people’s lives.

God never gives a vision without a provision. But He doesn’t release the provision all at once. He sends them as the vision keeps expanding. That is why no matter how huge your calling is, you’ll start small. Why? Because that realm allows you to focus on building upon the root of the vision before it escalates. Moreover, you’ll also learn how to trust God with the little He gives you.

But when extreme problems arise, what do you do? You should behave like the disciples: they woke Jesus up in the boat while He slept.

Sometimes, it’s not that God isn’t with you. He is, indeed. But you may have become so engrossed in depending on your own understanding to do things that you’ve made God dormant in your life’s administration. Wake Jesus up in your case. He’s ever ready to help you. But He wants you to pray so that your mind will be filled with His peace (see Philippians 4:6-7) as He embarks on His plan for your life.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, I pray in Jesus’ name, give me fresh ideas to handle what You’ve called me to do better. I choose to call upon You every time, not just when I’m in trouble. Amen!
