Two Are Better Than One

“Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, For he has no one to help him up.” — Ecclesiastes 4:9 - 10 NKJV

One of the reasons why marriage and valuable friendship expands our lives is that we get access to people’s help. There are too many responsibilities in life that no person can do life independently. Though you may not be married, if you’ll be honest with yourself, many people have helped you to become who you are today, especially your parent(s).

Ecclesiastes 4:9 tells us that two are better than one not for any haphazard reason but because they have a good reward for their labour. That implies that the result gotten from two people who’re committed to doing something is usually better when compared to the same work when handled by one person. In our case, the best example to use is marriage. Why? Because it’s only in marriage that spouses show tremendous commitment to each other’s life.

I’m in no way saying marry because of Ecclesiastes 4:9. I’m just telling you that you can go very far in life if you choose a good spouse who fears the Lord and is committed to helping you every time of your life. Nevertheless, aside from marriage, you must labour on building quality friendships with the brethren in Christ as a child of God.

God didn’t create you to do life alone. You may never know when you’ll need another person’s help. You may not know when another person will also need your help. Walk with wise people, and have at least one friend in Christ who’ll be with you every time of your life. I pray for the grace to cultivate quality friendships over your life in Jesus’ name. Amen!

You’re a blessing.

Prayer

Father, I pray that You’ll give me divine enablement to build quality friendships in the brethren In Christ. Bless my life with like-minded people in the faith who’ll be for me and show me the right path to take when I’m confused. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
