Trust in The Lord with All Your Heart

[5] “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;” — Proverbs 3:5 NKJV

The heart is one of the most delicate parts of man. Jeremiah 17:9 tells us that it (the heart) is deceitful above all things. So knowing this very well, it’s very significant to be meticulous about whom you give your heart to and whose your heart belongs.

A mature lady in church counselled me when I was 22 that my heart belongs to God, so I shouldn’t give to someone else just like that. Several months later, I understood what she said well after encountering several disappointments from people I thought were for me. But amid those difficult times, I stumbled upon Proverbs 3:5, where I found hope. Today, I counsel you to read that scripture again, this time at a slower pace.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;”

Proverbs 3:5 NKJV

You can entrust the fullness of whatsoever is in your heart unto the Lord. Why? Because it’s only Him who has assured you that He’ll never leave nor forsake you (see Matthew 28:20, Hebrews 13:5). Moreover, because of that assurance, He is faithful always to you.

Yes, you may have dreams deep-seated in the corridors of your heart that you cannot tell anybody. But today, from Proverbs 3:5, you can tell God. And even more, put your trust in Him with every fibre of your being.

But there’s a warning. That is, after doing that, don’t lean on your own understanding. In other words, don’t figure out how God will do the things you’ve laid before Him in your heart. Because I tell you, He’ll outdo them. In fact, I’ve seen Him do it several times in my life just because I believed in His promises and never concerned myself with how long or short the process will take.

It’s written in Ephesians 3:20 NKJV (Emphasis mine) that,

“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,”

Read that again! God will exceed your expectations. So put your trust in Him.

Fret not, child of God. Your days are numbered before the face of God. And as you live in honour of Him, so shall your days shine brighter and brighter.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for the assurance that You’ll never leave nor forsake me. Today, I proclaim my trust in You with every fibre of my being. I choose not to turn back to my human calculations on how things should get done. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
