The Lord Loves the Gates of Zion

“[2] The Lord loves the gates of Zion more than all the other dwellings of Jacob.” — Psalms 87:2 NIV

The Psalms consist of many mysteries about Christ that ought to be decoded only by the Holy Spirit for thorough understanding and application. When I read Psalm 87:2 for the first time, I wondered how the verse connects to the New Testament. And here’s it.

Zion, in the scripture, is a symbolic name used to represent the kingdom of God. So when the Psalmist says, “The Lord loves the gates of Zion …,” that means God takes delight in seeing people get saved each day (because everyone who gets saved must pass through the gates of Zion to enter God’s kingdom). No wonder Luke 15:7 (NIV) says,

[7] “… there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.”

It’s only the repentance of one sinner that commands rejoicing in the entire heaven, nothing else. Therefore, don’t treat evangelism as an old-fashioned way of ministry. It’s God’s daily delight. He loves the gates of Zion more than all other dwellings of Jacob (all other realms of ascendancy in the Spirit realm).

Keep reaching out to the lost. Tell them about Jesus in the power of the Spirit. Leave no stone unturned, man of God. For God will reward you as you do what He loves.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, ignite an increased passion to see the lost come to the light. Let them not die in their sins. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
