The Kingdom of Heaven Belongs to the Poor in spirit

[3] “Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” — Matthew 5:3 NKJV

Have you placed a careful thought on which kind of people Jesus described as “the poor in spirit” in Matthew 5? Maybe yes; maybe not. But who are they, and how can we recognise them?

Well, the word “poor” used in Matthew 5:3 literally means “lacking resources.” So, for Jesus to say the kingdom of heaven belongs to the poor in spirit, then He’s referring to those who don’t have the Spirit of Christ in them. And according to Romans 8:9, such people are just not born again. They have unregenerate spirits (see Titus 3:5) and as such, are adamant about the promptings of God. Such people are all around us, and they need help!

God wants all men to be saved so as to become citizens of heaven (Zion). So if you have someone in your life who’s not saved, please reach out to them. Preach Jesus Christ to them for them to get saved. In that way, Jesus will come and live in them, quicken and enrich their spirits with the refreshing Word and a loving relationship with God.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for making provisions for people who are poor in Spirit to believe in Jesus, be saved and enjoy living as citizens of Zion. I pray, send more labourers in Your vineyard for them to preach the Word. I’m Jesus’ name. Amen!
