The Bond of Peace

“Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” - Ephesians 4:3 NIV

It’s always good to have the bond of peace amongst the people we live and talk to, especially the brethren in Christ. But sometimes, it’s a little difficult to maintain it because of the differences in people’s attitudes towards us.

In most cases, people get raised from different homes with diverse thinking patterns before identifying themselves in the brethren. What one person will do and see as good can be interpreted by another as purely evil. For this reason, contentions and offences are inevitable to come. But hear what Apostle Paul told the Ephesian church (now to us) in Ephesians 4:3: “Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.”

From this verse, it requires effort from one another as brethren in Christ to stay united in Spirit. And that effort is made through acts that promote peace like forgiveness, comfort, treating one another nicely, debt settlement, spiritual counselling, and conflict management. These things are essential in the Body of Christ.

Brethren, church isn’t all about gathering to worship, praise, and hear God’s Word. What you do in your home, workplace, and office should manifest Christ. Put other people’s interests above yours (Philippians 2:3) because self-interest gratification is usually a cause of division. Above all, love one another.

You’re a blessing.
