Speak Evil of No One

“Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work, to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men.” - Titus 3:1‭-‬2 NKJV

Evil speaking is very common these days, especially on the comment session of social media pages (primarily because people can hide behind their profiles to say what they want). In today’s world, speaking doesn’t only comprise what we utter with our mouths but also what we type or record online. Communication ways have become many, and we must check how we use each one of them.

When the scriptures were written, there were no phones, internet, or computers. But aside from all these facts, Christians are reminded to speak evil of no one no matter which mode of communication is utilized. Now that means we can forget to practice all these “don’ts” in Titus 3:1-2. However, we are responsible for checking our tongues (what we say) and the usage of our devices, especially in terms of communication.

Let me tell you something. We live in a world that lies in wickedness (1 John 5:19). And people aren’t conscious that how they treat others, whether in their presence or absence, leaves an impression in their minds. A man may forget something evil you said today, but internet-driven databases don’t forget things like comments unless you delete them. Use your hands to type gracious words. Choose to minister grace unto people instead of slandering them. Speak evil of no one.

You’re a blessing.
