Small Things Control Big Results

[4] “Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go. [5] Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark.” — James 3:4 - 5 NIV

In a fruit are seeds, and in those seeds are forests. So the genesis of every large forest is a seed. That is one truth that baffles my mind about the way God created things. In each of His creatures, He has placed a potential in it that makes it possible to reproduce of its own kind. In short, small things control big results. But without careful observation, it’ll be hard to recognise it.

In a fruit are seeds, and in those seeds are forests. So the genesis of every large forest is a seed.

As large as a ship is, a small rudder controls its direction. As little as the tongue is without a bone, it can set up a grudge between two people that can last for years if not solved. That tells us that it’s dangerous to disregard the potential of small things around us.

Pastor Craig Groeschel once said, “Successful people do consistently what ordinary people do occasionally.” I find a lot of meaning in this. Jesus consistently prayed at night and was able to do ministry in power during the day. Meanwhile, the disciples couldn’t do what He did while He was with them on Earth until He gave them the Holy Spirit, who enabled them to live like Jesus without fear.

Successful people do consistently what ordinary people do occasionally.

That great thing you’re thinking about doing in the future begins with one step. You’re supposed to capture the ideas of purpose God keeps nourishing your mind today. They are seeds of eternity. And by constant meditation and acting upon the dream, God will help you make it a reality.

Remember that seeds don’t grow because you put them in the soil but because you’re consistently providing the necessities required for their germination. Build lasting habits that’ll keep reminding you and building upon the vision God has given you.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer

Father, in Jesus’ name, deal with anything in me that keeps despising the little things you’ve blessed my life with. Help me see the potential in what you’ve given me beyond physical looks, so I can use it to fulfil my purpose. Amen!
