Shepherd the Flock of God Well

[2] “Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly; [3] nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock; [4] and when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away.” – 1 Peter 5:2-4 (NKJV)

Ministry is in diversities in the body of Christ. But one of the most demanding areas is the pastoral ministry. Every church has at least one pastor. In fact, without pastors in ministries, how can we shepherd the flock of God well? However, there are a lot of things not going well in the body of Christ — pastors deceiving people, staging of miracles, sexual immorality, domination of people’s lives, and other evil sins going on.

The Bible says we, ministers, should shepherd the flock of God which is among us. By doing that, we should carry the mindset of overseers, willing servants and content people without extorting gifts from them (the sheep). As for me, I thank God that my local pastor lived this before my very eyes. But what about me and others in ministry?

Sometimes, ministry can be very demanding, yet with low income. Some pastors even struggle to get food to eat. And so, because of these atrocities, many get forced to use diverse ways to gain money from God’s people for private usage. That is why many people question the financial integrity of several ministries. However, you’re different, servant of God. Choose to live out the standard of God’s Word, not by what others are doing. Stand for kingdom purity and discharge your duties as a minister well.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your Word so sweet. Help me to serve you with all gladness, doing everything with a pure mind. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
