One of the beautiful qualities of the love of God is that it’s not self-seeking (1 Corinthians 13:5). It seeks for other people’s interests to be satisfied before ours, even if it requires that we give sacrificially. However, do we see it in our lives today? Many times, it’s a no.
One of the instructions Paul gave the Philippian church (and now us) is that they should not only look for their own interests, but also in the interests of others. In other words, they ought to satisfy the interests of others aside from themselves. That is the expression of God’s love. It doesn’t seek to satisfy one’s own interests at the neglect of others.
Yes, you may not be married or in any dating relationship. So you may not understand what it means to give what you have sacrificially to support your partner. However, it’s better to start practising this mystery using the people around your life and family. Go beyond chasing selfish interests. When you have something another person needs, don’t shut up your bowels of compassion. Give, even if you have to do it sacrificially because when you do, you’re dying to self.
You can give without loving, but you can’t love without giving anything
God’s love is patient. To express it, you’ll not get everything you want; because you’ll consider other people’s interests in your decisions. You’re only required to reject people’s opinions when their thoughts aren’t in synchrony with what God has told you to do.
Remember that love always requires some form of sacrifice. You can give without loving, but you can’t love without giving anything, including your time. Have time for people.
God didn’t come to the earth to be an island. Everything you have isn’t just for you but for others. Be generous because people need help in many aspects of their lives.

Prayer
Father, I pray that you’ll give me more provisions to satisfy other people’s interests aside from mine. Create avenues in my life to express Your love through immense generosity. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
