Only Jesus Can Satisfy You

“And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.” — John 6:35 NKJV

Although I’m still young, I’ve seen so many people chase many things in life – like money, cars, buildings and relationships. Some get what they want but aren’t able to keep it, so they lose it. Some also get their wants and are able to keep them, yet they don’t live fulfilled lives. I asked myself why these things kept happening. Then I realised that nothing on this Earth has the capacity to satisfy the soul of any man, whether fame, money or even marriage. Do you know why? Because none of these carries substance in the bread of life – Jesus.

In John 6:35, Jesus said He is the bread of life. The word “bread” in the scripture signifies food or provision, and the word “life” is “zōē” – eternal life. That means, even if you are saved, you cannot do away with Jesus and have a fulfilled life because only He can satisfy your soul.

Chase money, you’ll get it, but it’ll be temporal. Pursue popularity, you’ll have it, but it won’t transform your character. Look for Jesus, and He’ll satisfy you, give your life meaning and add all those things people are hardly pursuing without stress.

There’s no time to use your life as an experiment. It’s time to live on purpose because only Jesus can satisfy you when you submit to His leadership and guidance. Follow Him closely.

Father, I pray, rid off anything in me that keeps seeking satisfaction in the things of this evil world. I choose to cling to the old rugged cross and to remain satisfied in Christ alone. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
