Mind the Father’s business

And He said to them, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?” - Luke 2:49 NKJV

Utmost attention is required to do anything excellently.

When Jesus was very young, He knew why He came to the world. But He had to submit to study and His earthly parents to help Him mature in stature and wisdom, and favour with God and man (Luke 2:51-52). Nevertheless, in all these things, He minded the heavenly Father’s business, which was His ministry.

When Jesus was twelve, His parents took Him with them to Jerusalem for the Festival of Passover. After the festival was over, Jesus stayed behind in the city without informing His parents about it (Luke 2:43). I don’t think Jesus did that purposely to create anxiety in His parents’ minds. I believe He did that because all this while, He desired to be in God’s house.

If the Bible says it took His parents three days to find Him (Luke 2:46), then how did young Jesus survive in those three days? There was no record of how He did that, but He survived. His mind was on His Father’s business, not His needs, and God supplied what He needed. Here’s my point: God will provide what you need if it concerns the fulfilment of His work.

What claims your most attention is where your central focus is. Yes, you may have enlisted projects to undertake and other achievements to accomplish this year. But will you put God first and mind His business (the ministry)?

What claims your most attention is where your central focus is.

God isn’t against anyone living a fulfilled life. But most often, those whose concern is on doing and supporting His work end up having this fulfilled life that many people dream of having. You cannot disobey Matthew 6:33 and expect everything to work out for you. Friend, if you love God’s work, help those who do it and support it with your time and finances. You’ll not lose if you do that. In fact, you’ll win. Think about this.

You’re a blessing.
