Know Where To Place Value

“Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces.” — Matthew 7:6 NKJV

Value is something significant in this life. Without using it properly on people and possessions, you’ll take them for granted and eventually lose them.

For example, if I own a car and I don’t place value on it, I’ll use it recklessly only for its quality to deteriorate over time until it gets damaged beyond repair. Sadly, that’s how some people do to others and the things around them. They neglect the rules of management while expecting everything to run smoothly. That’s a fallacy.

If a marriage partner decides to take the other spouse for granted, deciding not to answer calls, shirk responsibilities and say all kinds of bad words, it’s only a matter of time before the fellow will realise he is losing his spouse.

Jesus knows the importance of value. So He said in Matthew 7:6 that you shouldn’t give what is holy to dogs; neither cast your pearls before the swine, lest they trample them underfoot and damage them. In other words, Jesus was cautioning us to know where to place value, so we can allocate what’s good to the right people.

A cock doesn’t know that out of one maize seed can come an entire maize plant with cobs bearing several seeds. It will just eat it when placed before it without thinking about its future benefits.

Give your time to what’s profitable, not what is popular.

Certain people in your life either undervalue or devalue you. Whichever the case is, you should know how to allocate your time to each of them.

Also, some purchases you make are not necessary for your destiny. Learn how to place value on what’s important, including yourself, not what everyone follows.

Remember that the extent of value you place on someone or something determines the measure of resources you’ll use to maintain that person in your life, including your time and money. It can be a relationship, a physical possession, a job or even your parents. Avoid spending time on what’s unnecessary. Give your time to what’s profitable, not what is popular.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer

Father, help me to place value on what’s important and relevant for my purpose and vision. Lead me on how to use my time and resources wisely, ensuring that none goes wasted. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
