Jesus Must Be Greater

“He must become greater; I must become less.” - John 3:30 NIV

This world belongs to God (Psalm 24:1), although He doesn’t rule it (2 Corinthians 4:4). Therefore, it doesn’t make sense to live in this world without God. When you do that, it’s just like being employed in a workplace without submitting to your boss.

Jesus must be greater in everybody’s life. But this doesn’t happen automatically. It’s something to be done intentionally, especially when everything is going on well in your life. John the Baptist had all the fame and name before Jesus appeared on the scene. After Jesus got revealed by the Father in a short while, John’s ministry started diminishing, and people began questioning him. He said Jesus must be greater (increase) while he becomes lesser (decrease). John knew that his Lord had come, and there was no need to compete with him.

When you recognise that all that you are and have is God’s, you’ll not forget to put God first in all things. Don’t fall for the trap of overlooking the wondrous doings of the Lord when things work out for you. Eternal life doesn’t consist of the abundance of all kinds of possessions (Luke 12:15). Be grateful to God.

You’re a blessing.
