Is Your Soul Dirty?

[22] “Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart,” — I Peter 1:22 NKJV

Apostle Peter addressed his first epistle to Christian pilgrims scattered across the face of the world who were facing tribulations for the cause of Christ, whose message they carry. So when Peter got to verse 22 and urged them to love one another, he initially said, “Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren…”. That means, consistently living in obedience to the Truth of God’s Word purifies your soul of all forms of worldly filth. But again, how can your soul get purified if you don’t contact what will purify it – the Word of God?

Some Christians still have dirty souls because they are living by the ways of the world while claiming to be in church. All such people can’t stand for the gospel in the face of persecution. Why? Because they don’t have God’s Word in them to overcome it.

Friend, is your soul dirty? Do you live by the principles of God or by the ways of the world, intentionally or subtly? It’s time to pay more attention to the study and the ministry of God’s Word in your life.

The Word of God has the power to cleanse your soul from every filth. If Jesus used it to cleanse the disciples (see John 15:3), how much more you?

Remember that we live in a world where persecutions abound. Your faith will be tried and tested. But in all things, remember to live by the Word.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, consistently supply Your Word to purify my soul from every filthy lingering mindset, consciously or unconsciously. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
