Ingrafted Branches

“Again I ask: Did they stumble so as to fall beyond recovery? Not at all! Rather, because of their transgression, salvation has come to the Gentiles to make Israel envious.” - Romans 11:11 NIV

There’s an adage that says, “you’ll not know the extreme value of what you have until you lose it.” I’ve found this to be true in many people’s lives. They complain about how bad things are for them, forgetting that the Christ in them is enough. This evil has happened in the Bible to Israel too.

Israel has ever been God’s chosen nation. They were entrusted with the oracles of God, had the adoption of sonship, and received the law, the temple, and the promises (Romans 9:4-5). They saw dumbfounding miracles from God, yet they didn’t accept Jesus the Messiah. That cost them the free gift of salvation through Christ because of unbelief. However, to any Israelite who believes in Jesus, that person will get back to God. But it’s usually not the case these days.

God, seeing that His chosen people rejected the Messiah, decided to make salvation come unto the Gentiles (every non-Israelite). Assuming Israel is God’s tree and the citizens are the branches, all unbelievers hailing from Israel have been cut from the tree, and the Gentiles have been ingrafted into it. Therefore, all Christians who don’t hail from Israel (Gentiles by physical descent) are ingrafted branches of Jesus being the True Vine (John 15:1).

You and I were unworthy for Christ to die for us. Nevertheless, He died for us while we were dead in sin. Count yourself blessed before God because you are amongst the chosen. Grace has found you.

You’re a blessing.
