By[15] “If you [really] love Me, you will keep and obey My commandments.” — John 14:15 AMP
John 14:15 is a very famous scripture spoken of by many Christians globally. Some say you can only prove your love for Jesus by obeying His commandments. But the Amplified Version puts that verse in an apparent way for understanding. It says,
“If you [really] love Me, you will keep and obey My commandments.”
So Jesus isn’t saying that we children of God should love him by our human strength or work to please Him by fleshly empowerment. No! He’s saying that when you keep (in mind and heart) and obey His commands in genuity, it should be an outflow of your love for Him. That is how to know if you really love Jesus or not.
Do you do what He tells you with complaints or murmurings? Or do you do it with a sincere heart of gratitude by His grace’s empowerment?
Never think doing God’s will is laborious because it’s Him who makes you will and do His pleasure (see Philippians 2:13).
Serve the Lord with gladness. For the package of the inheritance He has for you, both on Earth and in heaven, is unquantifiable and incorruptible (see 1 Peter 1:4, Luke 18:18-20). Peace be unto you!
