God Will Never Leave You

[21] “As for me, this is my covenant with them,” says the LORD. “My Spirit, who is on you, will not depart from you, and my words that I have put in your mouth will always be on your lips, on the lips of your children and on the lips of their descendants—from this time on and forever,” says the LORD.” — Isaiah 59:21 NIV

Life is in seasons, and in each season are new relationships formed. People come, people leave. Yet, in all the changing phases of this life, God has never changed. The Bible says in James 1:17 that God is light, and in Him, there’s no shadow of turning. That means God is constant. He has never and will never change. And that reaffirms the truth in today’s devotional title. That God will never leave you.

Interestingly, it’s not in the New Testament that Jesus said this thing first. It has always been in the Old Testament, and one of the scriptures that confirms this is Isaiah 59:21. God uttered those words to the prophet Isaiah as part of the things in the New Covenant package. And I’m happy that the prophet heard and penned it down. Today, this prophecy is a reality to us – the New Testament believers.

Whenever there’s a fire in a bush, one of the first creatures to leave the scene are animals. Why? Because the place has become uncomfortable for them. That is how this world is. When you’re on fire for God, that fire will expose evil things that comfortably dwell in a place they shouldn’t be. I believe this is one of the reasons why it’s hard to maintain some friends when you ardently follow God in life. Your fire will expose their bad character, which won’t be compatible with the life God is leading you to live by.

Today, be rest assured that God will never leave you. When all men turn against you, God will still be there with you. When all people speak against you for being on fire for Jesus, He will be there to hold you up in victory. Fret not, for all things shall work together for your good because of your love for Jesus.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, guide me to lean on You whether times are good or bad. I affirm in my spirit that my allegiance is to You alone. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
