God Purposed You to be Conformed to the Image of Jesus Christ

[29] “For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.” — Romans 8:29 NIV

The word “foreknew,” as used in the verse above, means to know beforehand. So what Paul was communicating in Romans 8:29 is that God knew us before we came to the world. In other words, He had each one in mind before we became physical human beings. And because of that knowledge, He programmed our lives unto a specific predestination.

God purposed you to be conformed to the image of Jesus Christ. Therefore, anybody living without manifesting the ways of Christ isn’t living according to God’s plan; simple. Let’s look at this illustration.

Suppose you want to travel to another town, you’ll definitely know which specific bus to board. Right? So if you end up in the wrong place, it’s your fault for picking the wrong bus or the driver for not knowing the way.

Here lies the case God, Your ultimate leader in Christ, will never miss His route for your life. So if you don’t cling to His leadership, His good plan for your life will not be fulfilled, even though that’s not His desire for you. It’s unfortunate, but it’s happening.

Many people try experimenting with things in life, and they end up devastated. And God keeps long-suffering for how wayward people are. The question is: “Are you part of those people?”

The devil can suggest a bothering thought to you that, “If God is your leader, why is this and that happening to you?” Beloved, that’s a bait of temptation. Don’t submit to that thought.

Satan plans to distract you from following God’s path. And that has a lasting effect on your life but is not immediately visible. It’s like a driver meandering one inch from the road. He’ll not notice how far he had drifted until about a mile or two on the journey. In the same way, resist the devil fiercely to stay on track with God.

Your life is hidden with Christ in God (see Colossians 3:3). Therefore, be conscious of living in the confines of God’s leadership because it’s solely for your good.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for conforming my life to the image of Your precious Son. Help me to replicate the ways of Christ in all endeavours of my life. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
