God Is the Overseer of Your Soul

[25] “For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.” — 1 Peter 2:25 NKJV

Have you ever wondered about a church without a leader? What happens to the members in his absence without anybody to take over? They’ll be scattered, right? Because it is written in Zechariah 13:7 (NKJV) that,

“… Strike the Shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered;…”

It’s the presence of the overseer that prevents evil people from attacking God’s sheep. But God’s shepherds, the pastors, are also humans. Life circumstances can take them away from the sheep. Sometimes, the enemy fights against such leaders when they’re establishing their ministries. And because this has happened to many people, they feel disappointed by these pastors.

But when you’re genuinely saved, God is the overseer of your soul, not any pastor or bishop. The shepherds God hands you over to are responsible for bringing you up in His way, not to replace Him in your life. And since nothing can stand against God, then nothing earthy or demonic will be able to crush your soul in the name of Jesus.

The Overseer of your soul has promised never to leave nor forsake you (see Hebrews 13:5). He’s a good God. Every good and perfect gift comes from Him, who has no shadow of turning. Rest your hope in Him because of a truth, He’s a perfect overseer.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, blessed be Your Holy name for becoming the Overseer of my soul. I commit myself to You in all endeavours of my life. Let Your will be done. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
