Give To The One Who Asks You

“Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.” — Matthew 5:42 NIV

It’s a blessing to be generous. However, in this modern generation, many people grieve for friends and colleagues borrowing money without paying in due time. And because of that, the hands of many are withheld from doing good to even innocent people. That’s not what Jesus taught us. He said we should give to the one who asks us and not turn away from those who want to borrow from us.

Now when Jesus said this, he was speaking about evil people from verse 39. So, in essence, Jesus is saying that even for evil people, we should continue doing good to them. And that’s a confirmation of the truth that God’s love has no loopholes.

No heart is too stubborn to be transformed by the power of God.

How many times have friends disappointed you? Compare it to the number of times you have disappointed God by disobeying His instructions, directly or indirectly. You see, if God wants to punish us for the wrongs we do, it’ll be so unbearable. We deserved hell because of sin, and Christ came to die and redeem us with His blood.

No heart is too stubborn to be transformed by the power of God. Give to the one who asks you, even if he has failed to return what you gave multiple times. I’m not only speaking about money, but properties, time, the Word of God, and other resources. Give without expecting back. Because if you do, you might be disappointed. You’re a giver in Christ. So manifest this privilege in your life.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, I pray that You’ll grant me the consciousness to obey You and do everything according to Your Word, not my will or emotions. Make me stick to the Truth even in hard times. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
