Flow with The Brethren With One Mind

[8] “Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous;” — 1 Peter 3:8 NKJV

When I stand before people to preach the gospel, I don’t address them as if I speak to one person. Instead, I talk to them as a group. Why? Because the Word of God is for each one of them, not one person. Right?

Now, Peter wrote his first epistle to Christians scattered across the face of the Earth (see 1 Peter 1:1). And in those times, persecution for the cause of the gospel was on the rise. Many were going through terrible persecutions because they were not ready to back down on the Word of Truth they had received. So, for the senior Apostle to encourage them in his epistle, he said, “Finally, all of you be of one mind …”. In other words, each one should flow with the brethren with one mind – the mind of Christ.

Today, we believers have the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16). So we don’t think like worldly people. While unbelievers think and do evil things, we administer God’s goodness to people no matter the feedback, good or bad, we receive from them.

See, child of God, it’s risky to separate yourself from the gathering of the brethren in fellowship. When you keep skipping meetings in church, not even joining online services, a time will come when you’ll be very different from them. Also, that means you’ll not grow steadily in the Spirit as the whole group grows because you’ve stopped drinking from the spiritual well.

I want to encourage you today. Be intentional about attending spiritual gatherings, no matter how busy you are in life. Pay the price to be around for church despite the circumstances, even if you’re in a bad marriage. That’s the only way you’ll not be different from the brethren in Christ overtime. May God strengthen you.
