Find Strength in God

“David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning him; each one was bitter in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But David found strength in the LORD his God.” - 1 Samuel 30:6 NIV

When we face situations that threaten our lives, it is very easy to forget God’s faithfulness in our lives since the day each one of us was born. Yes, some situations are manageable, but others are fatal. This is what David faced. Upon returning from battle, David and his men saw their city (Ziklag) destroyed by fire.

As sorrowful as the situation was, David wasn’t much concerned with his loss but with his life. He was receiving stone-to-death threats from the people he had trained and led for years. Even though the men kept complaining to David, the scripture says that he found strength in God. That means, despite his anxiety, he cast his mind back on the faithfulness of God and believed Him for deliverance and recovery.

Where you pick your inspiration from in your days of adversity is very important. If you don’t learn to depend on God and look for solutions in the Word, over-relying on the voices of men can disappoint you. The sermons we listen to and read every day can’t replace God. Be intimate with Him, and let your requests be made known unto Him. He’s with you.

You’re a blessing
