Endure Temptation

“Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.” — James 1:12 NKJV

Temptation is one of the words many believers in Christ hate to hear. Why? Because some see it as evil. Meanwhile, it’s not.

The word “tempt” means test for weakness. If you don’t get tempted with something evil, how can you verify the potency of God’s Word in you to overcome challenges?

Apostle James, knowing this well, tells us to endure temptation because it comes with a blessing. In other words, we should remain strong in the Word we’ve believed when tempted in life. But the question is, “Is there any surety of us going through these challenges with God’s Word as our banner?” Yes!

…for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.

Reading the above excerpt from James 1:12 well, we see the word “when,” in the sentence “when he has been approved,” which means that holding on to God’s Word in every situation won’t break you down but will enable you to come through victoriously. However, there’s more.

The man who endures temptation will receive a crown of life ( zōē – eternal life) promised to be given by God to those who love Him. See, if you still choose to obey God’s Word no matter the circumstances, it shows you love God and are faithful to Him just as He is to you. And because of that, you’ll know Him experientially. You’ll know that He’s the same God who’s with you in the highs and lows of life. Don’t give up. Press on.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer

Father, thank you for providing divine strength through the indwelling of the anointing to endure temptation in this life. I know and believe that because of Your faithfulness, you’ll never leave me forsaken. Thank you. Amen!
