Don’t Move Until God Tells You To

[14]“And in the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dried. [15] Then God spoke to Noah, saying, [16] “Go out of the ark, you and your wife, and your sons and your sons’ wives with you.” — Genesis 8:14 - 16 NKJV

After God sent a heavy downpour upon the Earth to destroy the evil generation of men, the Earth flooded for several weeks. Noah, who was in his ark with his family, was testing whether the earth was dry so they could move out.

He kept sending a dove to check. On the first occasion, the dove flew back to the ark with nothing on its beak, meaning the whole earth flooded, so much so that it couldn’t see any tree to even perch on (Genesis 8:8-9).

On the second occasion, the dove returned to the ark with a pluck of leaf on its beak, meaning the flood had gone down upon the earth. But on the third occasion, the dove never returned to the ark. That implied the ground was dry, and Noah could move out.

But in Genesis 8:15-16, God told Noah to step out of the ark with his family before they moved out.

Despite Noah’s righteousness, knowledge and understanding, he kept allowing God to order his steps and not take matters into his own hands. That’s submission unto divine authority.

You may be very knowledgeable in the Word of God and even understand divine ways of doing things. But that doesn’t give you any right to override God’s leadership over your life.

Jesus is still your Lord and personal Saviour. He is ever willing to help you but demands you to live in submission unto Him. Even if you’re ready to do something divine, don’t move until God tells you to. It’s for your protection and reduction of committing mistakes. Submit your ways to God.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer

Father, help me to remain committed to Your ways. Develop my spirit to discern Your promptings to where You’re leading me. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
