Don’t Entertain Conflict In Your Life

[8] So Abram said to Lot, “Please let there be no strife between you and me, and between my herdsmen and your herdsmen; for we are brethren. [9] Is not the whole land before you? Please separate from me. If you take the left, then I will go to the right; or, if you go to the right, then I will go to the left.” — Genesis 13:8 - 9 NKJV

Conflict is very destructive. It is a direct attack on mental sanity and physical health. During conflict, one fellow can harm the other, only to regret it later. Aside from these effects, it could be an attack on destinies too.

For example, if a couple fights consistently in their marriage, the children’s destinies are at stake because if a divorce comes in, these children will live in a broken home and have parental upbringing defects. I heard one preacher say, “if it takes two to give birth, then it takes two to raise.”

You cannot jeopardise destinies by looking out for selfish reasons in whatever you do. Look at how Abraham prevented two groups of people carrying great destinies from becoming enemies.

One time, there was strife between Abraham’s herdsmen and Lot’s herdsmen. These two masters were cousins. And Abraham didn’t want there to be a fight between these workers. So he came up with an idea. That is, allowing Lot to choose the land he wants and depart unto it.

Lot accepted this suggestion and chose a land for himself. Interestingly after Lot left, God spoke to Abraham about the land He’ll give him and his offspring (the Israelites) forever.

When there’s conflict, there’s an inability to hear God clearly because of its damaging attack on spiritual sanity. Jesus didn’t allow his disciples’ desire to be great to disunite His team. So as a leader of your organisation or home, don’t entertain conflict amongst the people close to you. It’s an enemy of the peace Jesus gave us (John 14:27).

You’re a blessing.

Prayer

Father, give me the capacity to deal with anything that’ll bring about conflict amongst the people in my life. Give me divine wisdom to do your work with the people you’ve blessed me with without controversy. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
