Don’t Challenge Jesus

Jesus said, “Take away the stone.” Martha, the sister of him who was dead, said to Him, “Lord, by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days.” - John 11:39 NIV

Many of us like giving physical evidence as a reason to disprove what God says. For example, God’s Word says that by Jesus’ stripes, we’re healed (1 Peter 2:24). When a sick person reads this scripture without any spiritual insight, he may believe it but will hardly personalize it because of the symptoms he has.

Seldom does a person give a spiritual reason for not doing something divinely instructed. God knows that many times, what His Word says isn’t what we physically see. That’s why He wants us to trust Him and believe that His Word is truth.

Let’s look at the account of Jesus when He was about to raise Lazarus from the dead. After Jesus interceded for the unbelieving people, He moved in faith to command others to take away the cave stone. Immediately after saying that, Martha expressed her dislike for this action of Jesus. She gave a physical reason to make Jesus stop what He was about to do. Well, Jesus didn’t condemn her when she spoke up. Instead, He questioned her belief in seeing the glory of God (John 11:40). Eventually, Lazarus got raised from the dead.

Negative physical reasons against the manifestations of God’s promises aren’t powerful enough to disprove His Word. Complaints don’t solve problems. Don’t challenge Jesus. Move by faith to do what He tells you. You’ll not end up as a failure, except if you stop depending on His guidance. Trust God.

You’re a blessing.
