Well, I’ve not been in a military training zone before. But I had a close relative who went there for a while. When he came out from there, he wasn’t the same distracted person he used to be. He became so focused on delivering the work he was assigned to do that other life matters didn’t concern him that much. What can we learn from this?
God created every person to live on purpose. And that purpose defines a person’s mission on this earth. When God helps you discover your reason for living, you must concentrate on the mission. A lack of knowledge about purpose, a person easily becomes distracted by the affairs of life. It’s purpose that gives meaning to the life of a child of God, not work, education, money, or even family.

You, as God’s child, are called (2 Timothy 1:9) in Christ. You may not know your special calling. But according to Hebrews 12:2, your eyes (of your heart) must always be focused on Jesus. This was what Paul was teaching Timothy differently. He had trained Timothy for a while, and now, he (Timothy) was in full-time ministry. Paul said that he should always remember his calling and stir up the gifts in him (2 Timothy 1:6). Why? — Because Paul didn’t want anything about Timothy’s life to go to waste, including his time.
Fellow Christian, your service in God’s kingdom is so important that you should shake off life entanglements as often as possible. Endure hardship as you serve. However, concentrate on the mission of Christ saving and discipling this wicked world by being mission-driven in your actions and decisions.
