By“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” - Matthew 11:28 NKJV
There is a specific kind of rest that is found only in Christ. It’s the rest for the soul. Many people are heavily laden and carrying unnecessary yokes upon their heads, such as worries about life issues, the hurts of past mistakes, and the troubles of a desperate future. So they don’t have rest for their souls. These things aren’t new to Jesus. He faced all kinds of temptations while on earth, yet He didn’t sin (Hebrews 4:15). This same person says come to Him today to find rest for your soul.
However, you may ask, “why should I come to Jesus?” Well, the answer is found in Matthew 11:27 that says,
All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.
Everything you ever want, need, or think about in life has been given to Jesus. So when you come to Him, there is assurance that everything about your life will be settled. If Jesus doesn’t have peace, He cannot give you His peace? If He doesn’t have rest, He cannot give you His rest? The One who says come has what you need.
Are you walking in the realm of loneliness or depression? There is a way out. Just come to Jesus. If you’re not born again, get born again and follow Christ. If you’re already a Christian, pray about your issues instead of being anxious about them. Philippians 4:6 NKJV: “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;” Take a bold step today and come to Jesus.
