Change the Trend

“And he said to him, “Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well drunk, then the inferior. You have kept the good wine until now!”” - John‬ ‭2:10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

It’s a trend in our society that people usually present what’s pleasant for others to see and hide the awful parts. Because it’s written in the Bible that “men look at outward appearance…” (1 Samuel 16:7), many people are deceived by what others present to them at first sight. As a child of God, you must purpose in your heart to change this trend by following Jesus.

In John chapter 2, it’s written that Jesus, with His disciples, was invited to a wedding in Cana. His mother was also there. It was cultural for the Israelites to serve good wines at weddings first and then bring out the inferior ones after the guests were drunk. Jesus knew this, but He didn’t complain when He saw it at the wedding He went. He didn’t even want to get involved in their activities. But His mother called upon Him when she realized that their wine got finished. Instead of Jesus rebuking people for getting drunk, He turned ordinary water into the best wine.

Choices are more powerful than statistics.

You may have realized a bad trend in your family that you want to change. It’s naturally difficult to change something that has persisted for generations. However, decide that it stops with you. Choices are more powerful than statistics. Did you live in a broken home? It ceases with your marriage. Did you have an abusive relationship? It ends with you and your partner. Friend, stop blaming your upbringing on your past. You can’t change the past, but you can do something about your future. It ceases with you. Change the wrong trend by involving Jesus in all that you do.

You’re a blessing.
