Cast Down Imaginations

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,” - II Corinthians 10:4 - 5 NKJV

The desires of the flesh and the Spirit are in a constant war in each believer’s mind. What the Spirit desires us to do, the flesh wants us to do the opposite (Galatians 5:17). But it all boils down to our choice.

Romans 6:16 (NKJV) says,

Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness?

Romans 6:16 NKJV

You choose which desire to yield your body to do. But again, it’s written in Romans 6:12 that,

Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.

Romans 6:12 NKJV

How do you do it? By casting down imaginations (arguments or desires) of the flesh that wrestle within your mind to disobey God. You must be intentional about this because manifesting righteousness depends on obedience to this Word under the Spirit’s empowerment.

You don’t have control over what comes to your mind, although you can feed it with spiritual content. However, you have the power to determine what stays in your mind.

The devil likes sowing negative thoughts and presents them in a way that sounds good. Don’t be deceived. Cast down such imaginations. They come as suggestions, but they aren’t your thoughts. Give the devil no chance. Resist him because he’s after your destruction, not your success. Above all, be committed to obeying God.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer

Lord, I receive grace to cast down imaginations contrary to the standard of Your unfailing Word. I choose to do what Your Word says and not what I feel like doing that will indirectly lead me astray from Your path. Amen!
