Blessed Are You When You Trust In The Lord

[5] Thus says the Lord: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man And makes flesh his strength, Whose heart departs from the Lord. [7] “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, And whose hope is the Lord.” — Jeremiah 17:5, 7 NKJV

How many times have you experienced disappointment in people? I suppose there are many. Right? But what was the primary cause? Is it because those people didn’t meet your expectations, or you trusted them too much to do something, but they failed? These are the basic things that make people have trust issues with others.

God knows how fallen this world is. So because of that, He doesn’t expect us to trust people but Him. He said in Jeremiah 17:5, “Cursed is the man who trusts in man And makes flesh his strength, Whose heart departs from the Lord.” I thought that was all. But He continued to list the consequences of trusting man.

“For he shall be like a shrub in the desert, And shall not see when good comes, But shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, In a salt land which is not inhabited.”

Jeremiah 17:6 NKJV

So the man who trusts in man will experience perpetual disappointment, so much so that even when good comes, he’ll not recognise it. That explains why hurt people have issues with opening up to genuine people who come to help them for no selfish reason.

This point is clear. Man is flesh without God. And the flesh is judged. Jesus said it profits nothing (see John 6:63).

Blessed are you when you trust in the Lord because He’s not a man to lie. God never fails, and you’re not the first person He’ll ever fail. He uses man to bless and help man. So instead of trusting man, trust God in that man (a believer in this case) to turn his heart to help you. That way, when that person disappoints you, it’s his fault, not God’s. And your heart won’t get harmed.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, turn the hearts of my destiny helpers to assist me accomplish everything you’ve called me to do. Surround my life with great people who’ll speak and confirm Your Word for my profit. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
