Behave Well at The Workplace

“And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men,” — Colossians 3:23 NKJV

I’ve not been to the work field for long, but I’ve heard so many Christian employers complain that their believing employees don’t like working earnestly. I remember one brethren who told me he’d preferably employ an unbeliever than another believer, especially when such a person is in the same church with him.

When I remember these reports, I recall how terrible many of us believers are quick to forget how to shine before men as children of God.

When a believer misbehaves at the workplace, it doesn’t only give others an unpleasant note about him (or her) but also preaches falsehood about the Jesus we follow and listen to. I know some unbelievers who have refused to come to church just because of bad behaviour by some Christians.

Friends, we’re ambassadors of Christ everywhere we go, not just in church. How you live and behave preaches to those watching you.

In Colossians 3:23, we understand that when it comes to working, we must do it as unto the Lord, not unto men. So it’s nice if someone employed you, but it’s better if you approach work with a godly mentality, just like how serious you take on ministry tasks. Assuming that posture will make you behave well at the workplace.

We live in a world where there’s a lot of compromise and evil. So subtly developing bad morals, habits, and attitudes at workplaces can happen. But friend, recognize first that you’re a child of God before an employee.

Spend time studying the Bible so that you’ll live out the Truth. Behave well at the workplace not because people are watching you but because God has sent you there to impact lives.

You’re a blessing.
