Be Strategic

When they found Him, they said to Him, “Everyone is looking for You.” But He said to them, “Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also because for this purpose I have come forth.” - Mark 1:37-38 NKJV

When you know where your focus is, it’ll be easy to identify distractions against the direction of your life movement. To be strategic in many things you do is very important. Without any strategy, projects get clouded in mind, appear too cumbersome, and become difficult to complete. For Christians, we have an advantage of prayer.

When you pray to God about something you want to do, He can show you a strategy to use to get it done, except if it’s not part of His plan for your life.

Mark 1:37-38 paints an excellent picture of how Jesus, a whole Son of God, applied strategy. Jesus arose at dawn to pray while the disciples slept. When these disciples woke up, they couldn’t see their master. So they started searching for Him. When they found him, they expressed their concern about not seeing him. Jesus heard what they said but gave them a different answer: “Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also because for this purpose I have come forth.”

Jesus knew the Father had sent Him to seek and save that which was lost (Luke 19:10). And there were numerous cities in Israel where He had to go and preach the Word. However, He realised that He must be strategic in fulfilling His calling. Why? — Because the work was too huge to be done haphazardly. For this cause, Jesus never went to a place without a mission in mind. In Mark 1:37-38, Jesus knew where He had to go and preach that particular day after He prayed, not before.

Understand that your divine calling is bigger than you. You can’t accomplish all the tasks related to its gradual fulfillment in one day. You must know your daily mission-oriented tasks. And then proceed to constantly develop strategies to fulfill them one by one by the grace of God. Pressure will sometimes mount up from various places and people. But be missional in responding to them. Always keep your purpose in focus.

You’re a blessing.
