A Sense of Divine Purpose

“He has made everything beautiful and appropriate in its time. He has also planted eternity [a sense of divine purpose] in the human heart [a mysterious longing which nothing under the sun can satisfy, except God]—yet man cannot find out (comprehend, grasp) what God has done (His overall plan) from the beginning to the end.” — Ecclesiastes 3:11 AMP

One thing God has never missed is His purpose. Before He built the foundations of this world, He knew every creature He’d create to make here meaningful to live, including man. So in Genesis 1, we see in scripture that there are several things God called into existence. If those creatures weren’t in His mind, how would they have been the exact representation of how He wanted them after they came to existence?

God is a God of purpose. He knows why He does every single thing. For this cause, He never creates anything without a purpose behind its making.

In the same way, God has planted seeds of eternity (a sense of divine purpose) in each person’s heart. That seed of eternity is what makes a person dissatisfied in himself or nothing else except Christ.

So many people seek to live purposefully in the world, yet they aren’t finding it. So they stick to acts of sin such as alcoholism, drugs and sexual immorality. When these things happen in a person’s life, it shows clearly that such a person has identity issues; and therefore lacks knowledge of why he’s alive.

For example, when a teenager submits to substance abuse such as marijuana, do you know what he’s doing? He’s allowing weeds to have dominion over him, which isn’t supposed to happen. Marijuana gets manufactured from plants. So if this teenager continues in this substance abuse, he’s allowing what he’s supposed to dominate rather have dominion over him, which is wrong.

God created man to dominate the world, not vice versa (Genesis 1:26). So in essence, God didn’t create man for plants, but plants for man. Plants are supposed to serve man’s purpose, not to make man abuse it.

God didn’t create man for plants, but plants for man.

Every sinful desire hints at an indication of misdirection of living God’s plan for a person’s life. Why? Because God wants you to live, and when you live a life of sin, you’re just creating a wage of death for yourself (Romans 6:23).

Until you come to Christ, you’ll not know why God brought you into this world. For it’s by Christ, through Christ and for Christ are all things created (Colossians 1:16). The best person to draw a sense of divine purpose from is the Creator, not any educational system.

You don’t need to know God’s entire purpose for creation. However, as for why He brought you on this earth, you ought to know it because until you do, you’ll never find satisfaction in your soul. Come to Jesus today!

You’re a blessing.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, I don’t want to end up like the multitudes of people lingering over this world without knowing why they are living. As I come to you today, grant me a sense of divine purpose – a reason to live. Don’t allow me to live just anyhow. Amen!
