Unified Growth – It’s Necessity in The Church

Imagine you’re building a house as you’re reading this. There are a lot of plans you have to follow through. After the structure has been raised, you have to furnish the room. Right? If you don’t, you’ll have a house, yet nothing inside to make you comfortable to live in. Now, if we humans can place priority on ensuring that every part of a building is necessary for us to live in, how much more Jesus’ Church?

Some people think that the Church (body of Christ) consists of all the Christian organisations in the world. But actually, it consists of all believers in Christ around the world. However, Christian organisations are responsible for putting these believers together to keep feeding them with God’s Word so they’ll go and represent Jesus wherever they are. And this explains why not every believer who preaches in God’s house will be ordained to full-time ministry.

The mission of Jesus

Probably, you’ve read some articles or devotionals on our website when I wrote about Jesus’ mission. However, if you’ve not, then it is written in Ephesians 4:10, “… that He might fill all things.

If Jesus wants to fill the whole universe, then He needs men. And if He needs men, He needs holy people. That explains why people must be saved before they can function in God’s purposes. And the purpose of God is beyond church. It’s actually about Jesus finding expression in every nook and cranny of the whole universe, not just the Earth.

Unfortunately, evil is thriving daily in the world. Many more people are coming up with evil ways to indulge people inside. And as believers, what should we do? Refute these demonic ways, right? But how’s that possible if we don’t experience unified growth, both individually and corporately, as believers in Christ?

How far each believer will go in God’s kingdom depends on oneself, not any minister or organisation.

The concept of unified growth

The term “unified” means to become one. So unified growth means growing up in every area wholistically, both as individuals and corporately as believers in Christ. That means God doesn’t want either you or any of His children to lack anything in every area of your life. So that when it comes to doing great things for Him for Christ to find expression everywhere, there won’t be problems here and there.

Today, as I write this article, we’re not there as a corporate body of Christ. Today, it’s common to see a financially prosperous Christian who lacks knowledge about Jesus. Another example is that many wise people in Christ are not rich, so people don’t listen to them. You can attest to the fact that nobody listens to a wise but poor person. It’s even in scripture (see Ecclesiastes 9:15-16). What a tragedy!

Now, I’m not saying every believer should be a “jack of all trades.” No! I’m referring to each believer becoming all that God created him to be without any hint of lack in any area of one’s life. Unfortunately, many Christians are settling for lower standards in (eternal) life even though God has destined each one for greatness. May this not be your story in Jesus’ name. Amen!

Be committed to personal growth

You cannot force people to grow spiritually. As a minister, you’re only required to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ consistently to the Lord’s sheep. But sincerely speaking, how far each believer will go in God’s kingdom depends on oneself, not any minister or organisation.

Some Christians are privileged to be in great ministries. But they still lack personal growth. And it’s so pathetic. How well are you using the resources God has given you, especially the Bible, to benefit your life? Play your part in God’s dominion mandate by discovering your purpose and following God’s plan for your life.
