Three Ways of Stirring Up God’s Favour In Your Life

From Genesis 39 through 41, we see the manifestation of God’s favour in the life of Joseph. The Bible says Joseph found favour in Potiphar, and he trusted Joseph with everything he owned. And God blessed his household because of Joseph. He left everything he had in Joseph’s care (see Genesis 39:6). Wow! A foreigner with such authority.

After he got imprisoned for false accusations, the Bible says the Lord granted him favour in the eyes of the ward that he was put in charge of all the prisoners (see Genesis 39:21). And when he was released from prison, he was made prime minister over all of Egypt. Wow! Favour can help you gain access to high places with ease. It can also make people like you and support you without you doing any deviant thing to win them over.

As children of God, the importance of favour in our lives cannot be overemphasised. My own life is a testimony of the favour of God. There are places and positions I’ve been in that I know for a fact that it’s only by God’s favour. It is basically our spiritual legal tender for trade, our certificate in anything we do, our visa to anywhere on this Earth and our key to unlocking any kind of door we want in life, all for the glory of our Father. Here are three ways of stirring up God’s favour in our lives.

1. Growing Spiritually

“And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.”

Luke 2:52

The Bible says Jesus grew in stature with God and man. Before that, He’d spent three days in the Temple courts (i.e. His Father’s house), teaching and answering questions. Even while He was still a boy, He was spiritually mature. As a child of God, your spiritual growth is very important. That makes it possible for you to walk in favour. God’s favour will give you things people seek after without your stress.

2. Fasting

When Esther wanted something from the King but ought to use a method against the law of the land, she told Mordecai and the Israelites to fast for her. That provoked God’s favour upon her life before the King (see Esther 4: 15-17, 5:1-8). She got her request to save the Israelites from perishing granted even though she went against the laws of the land.

Fasting helps open so many doors for the believer. If you want to stir up the favour of God upon your life, especially concerning a specific request, seek God’s face through fasting and prayers. It’ll help you a lot.

3. Finding a wife by God’s help

Marriage, before God’s sight, is God’s way of multiplying favour, especially in the man’s life. It doesn’t mean if you’re a bachelor, you can’t be favoured. No! You still can. It’s just that this way of stirring up God’s favour upon your life is reserved for adults. The Bible says in Proverbs 18:22 NKJV that,

[22] “He who finds a wife finds a good thing, And obtains favor from the LORD.”

You see! The godly man who finds a godly wife gets favour from the Lord. I believe this is true because God gives such men enough provision for their relationships and marriage, so they can live without lacking provision for themselves and their partners.

Allow God to help you find a good spouse if you plan to date and get married, maybe around age 23 or upwards. Please, this is a suggestion. Follow God’s will and your parents’ consent about when you ought to start dating). But always remember that God is faithful. He will not hold back His blessings from you. He will give you freely according to His riches and glory. Amen!
