Three Tips To Overcome Fear

Fear is one of the problems that haunt many people’s lives, aside from insecurity. So many people battle with fear in their minds because of the uncertainties of life. Yes, I understand that life is full of ups and downs, and anything can happen at any moment. But God knew all these things before thinking about bringing you into this world. He knew all the problems you’d face, all the bad things people will do to you, all the pain you have to endure, and all the sources of provision He’ll make available to you. You don’t have to worry about your life because God had carefully planned it before you became a blood clot in your mother’s womb.

If you’re struggling to overcome fear, here are three tips from the Bible to win against it.

1. Recognise the character of the Holy Spirit in you

God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of love, peace and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). So clearly, fear is not part of the character of the Holy Spirit in you as a believer in Christ. Now that means any thought of fear is a foreign material in your walk with God, and you must confront it immediately with the Word of God.

Thoughts come and go. Some only stay when you meditate on them. When the devil suggests opinions to make you see how uncertain life is, pray and tell him that your security is in God, not the world.

2. Cast down fearful imaginations

Every imagination that exalts itself against the knowledge of God doesn’t come from God. They come from the pit of hell. Fear is one of them. Such thoughts must not be entertained but cast down by the power of God resident in you as a Christian (John 1:12 KJV, Acts 1:8, 2 Corinthians 10:5).

Beloved, your mind is a battlefield of thoughts. You must be intentional about feeding it with the Word of God, so much so that you’ll give no space to the devil to plague you with fear. Remove fearful thoughts by prayer as you consume God’s Word daily.

3. Rest in the promises of God

The last thing I want to talk about is rest. Jesus gives rest to anyone who comes to Him (Matthew 11:28). If you’re plagued with fear, and don’t know what to do, come to Jesus. Let Him speak to you and saturate your mind with His promises concerning your life. His peace will fill your heart and mind, and all your worries will leave.

I hope these three tips to overcome fear ministered life to you. You’re a blessing.
